If your home is anything like mine, cleaning products are used daily and that usually means lots of waste and toxic chemicals. While you may not realize that you’re being wasteful, those paper towels and plastic disinfectant bottles add up overtime.
Switching to any of these six options will not only benefit the environment, but also better your personal health because they use less toxins than traditional cleaning products!

Vinegar
I had always been hesitant of using vinegar as a cleaning product (mostly because of the strong smell) but after reading about it’s non-toxic cleaning ability, I decided to give it a try. Once I added a few drops of essential oil to help the vinegar smell it became much more tolerable to use.
I’ve mainly been using it as an all purpose cleaner, but you can read my five favorite ways to use it here!

Instead of using paper towels for wiping down countertops, try these bamboo cloths. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial so you can actually use them a few times before they need to be put in the washing machine.

These sponges are biodegradable and can be used on dishes, countertops, sinks, and more. They also have a cotton loop so you can hang them to dry between uses.
Compared to other sponges that are made with foam and plastic, these last a lot longer and are much more sustainable. Use my code ALMOSTECOFRIENDLY for 10% off your purchase!
If you don’t want to use vinegar as your all-purpose cleaner I found that this brand is a good sustainable swap.
Instead of buying a new bottle every time you runout, Blueland offers refill concentrate pods that are packaged in compostable wrapping and only cost $2.
A plus to using eco-conscious cleaners like Blueland is that they don’t harm children and pets, unlike products containing harsh chemicals.
Unlike aerosol air fresheners, these air purifying bags remove odor with activated charcoal and no fragrances or chemicals.
They can also be reused for up to two years so they will save money compared to can air fresheners that are used up quickly.
I hope these sustainable cleaning products help make your home a little more eco-friendly and encourage you to make changes towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Thank you for reading, have a lovely day!
